Terms and Conditions

Creating a harmonious learning environment where every student can thrive and excel in their musical journey

Attendance and Missed Lessons

• Regular, weekly lesson attendance is expected. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given for missing a lesson, the lesson is forfeited (with no make-up offered) with the exception of when the student is sick.

• If the student is sick on his or her lesson day, you must inform us 24 hours BEFORE the lesson begins to avoid forfeiting the lesson (Please do not come if you are sick, this applies for in-person lessons, not online lessons). In many cases, we will be able to do a virtual lesson instead.

• If you miss a lesson with at least 24 hours’ notice a makeup lesson will be scheduled during the student’s school session break. There are no refunds.

Tuition

• Tuition can be paid by Zelle, credit card or cash.

• Recitals, festivals and competitions are billed separately based on participation. All students are expected to participate in each year’s recital.

• Late payments will be charged an additional $25.

• Music books are not included in tuition. Payments for additional services requested like extra tuition or piano books are added to your monthly invoice

• Payment of tuition indicates acceptance of these policy terms.

Etiquette

• Parking: Please use street parking

• Please wait outside until the start of your lesson and the previous student has been excused.

Students need the following:

• A well-maintained piano to practice on. If you have a keyboard, the keys should be weighted. If it is an acoustic piano, please have it tuned regularly 1-2 times a year.

• Short fingernails and clean hands.

• A Metronome.

Practicing

• Students are expected to come fully prepared for lessons. Students should refer to their lesson assignment book daily and complete all assignments.

• A regular time should be set aside each day for practice to become a daily habit and to consistently reinforce concepts and avoid cramming the day before a lesson.

• Treat practicing like other homework and do it on a daily basis.

• It is important to focus on the quality of practice as well as how long to practice.

• Students should practice at least 6 days per week.

• For best results, practice for 40-60 minutes daily.

• Consistency is better than time. If you can practice 20 minutes daily, or 120 minutes once a week, the former is infinitely better, even though the latter is longer. Please practice daily.

• Practice with focus. If you don’t know how or what to work on, ask your teacher. • Generally, pick what you practice carefully, and practice mindfully.

• A daily practicing record is expected. If a student repeatedly comes unprepared for piano lessons, he or she will be asked to give the lesson time to another student on the waiting list.

• As a guideline, students should practice at least the same length of their lesson five to six days per week. For younger students, it is often helpful to divide the practice time into 2-3 segments each day. Regular, daily scheduled practice time is an essential key to success in piano study.

Cancellation

• If for some reason the student/parent/guardian or I feel that it is necessary to terminate all lessons, 30 days’ notice must be given to the other party. Payment for the lessons through those 30 days will not be refunded.

Others

• You will be responsible for any damage to the property or business.

• In addition to this document, you agree to the above terms and policies. You will need to either bring a physically signed copy to your next lesson or send a digitally signed copy for your next lesson. Signing this contract is required to be a member of the studio.
